Q: My position was left open from last night with a stop loss in place, but stop loss didn’t trigger so I have taken a heavy hit ... Can’t understand why this stop loss wouldn’t have triggered

A: Why didn’t it trigger? Who are you with?

Q: Plus 500 gave me some excuse that there’s no guarantee that the stop loss would be triggered. I’m so angry right now

A: We have gapped at the open this morning so maybe that is why. Plus 500 don’t offer overnight pricing and are CFDs

If you have a trade open overnight and your broker does not offer overnight pricing (i.e. it closes soon after futures close at 9PM UK and opens again just before futures open at 7AM UK) and the market moves against your position overnight your trade will be closed when the market re-opens, regardless of where your stop is. This can easily result in large losses.
